Running2manymiles.com

As many may know, I log my runs pretty religiously on running2win. Dickman and I were just talking this morning about how many studs there are now logging on the site. It used to be that you could make the top 20 list with about 85-90 miles. Recently it seems that 90 miles makes you look like a real puss!

I've never been a big mileage whore, but it seems that what drives my weekly totals is trying to get on to that top twenty list. The past 7 days I ran 93 miles and wouldn't you know it, it takes 94 to get on the list. I'm half tempted to go out and run another mile right now and log it just to get on the list. Then again, I'm sure it would take 95 to get on the list.

I'm cool with not being on the list as long as my training is going well, which it is. Those of you on the top 20 list, most of whom I know, keep racking up the miles you mileage whores and I'll always be one or two miles behind you and hopefully one or two seconds ahead of you at the finish (but again, maybe not)!

As you know B, it's XC summer training and Fall marathon buildup time... watch, come mid-October the Top 20 will bottom out around 70-75 again.

I'll be running my first marathon in October on the west coast. Any advice for a novice besides the obvious?
